Description of the programme: The Academic Programme offered by the Faculty of Pharmacy leads to the degree Doctor of Pharmacy. This programme extends over a period of five years (10 semesters). The degree is accepted in several countries around the world. Citizens of the EU will receive their licences automatically within the Community. Pharmaceutical training begins with an introduction to the basic sciences providing a basis for further pharmaceutical studies. In the second part of the course students take part in general and special pharmaceutical training at the university's departments, teaching pharmacies, institutes, laboratories and pharmaceutical works. The faculty seeks to train its undergraduates by promoting their intellectual development and their progressive accumulation of competence in all fields of modern pharmacy. In the final year students participate in professional practices in Hungarian pharmacies. Furthermore, they need to defend their theses (doctoral dissertations) and sit for a complex comprehensive examination – the State Board Examination. Having fulfilled all requirements, candidates are awarded the title Doctor Pharmaciae (Pharmacist, Dr. Pharm.).

Application procedure

• Applicants are required to sit for an entrance examination. Holders of the following degrees can be exempted from sitting for the entrance examination on condition that they have completed their studies with excellent results:
• IB (International Baccalaureate) Applicants need to have achieved at least grade 5 in the following subjects: English language and two natural sciences subjects (biology, chemistry or physics)
• GCE (General Certificate of Education) A or A+ level with an A result in 3 natural sciences subjects
• B.Sc. (Bachelor of Science) Degree in Natural, Biomedical, Life Sciences, Chemistry, Biology, Physics
• Main application requirements: Successful completion of high school; oral and written competence in biology, chemistry and English language which is to be proved as part of the entrance examination.
