Degree: Chemistry, BSc
Duration of the course: 6 semesters
Language of tuition: English
Description of the programme: After meeting the requirements of the programme, consisting of an optional preparatory course (strengthening the English language proficiency of students) and 6 semesters of theoretical studies complemented by a practical summer laboratory course, the students will have an extended knowledge and understanding of the most important experimental and theoretical principles in chemistry, which qualifies them for employment as professional chemists in chemical and related industries or in public service.
They will attain generalunderstanding of chemistry and competences which will give them access to more advanced programmes (MSc, then PhD programmes).
They will have the ability to communicate their knowledge to specialist and non-specialist audiences and develop learning skills enabling them to continuously update and refresh their knowledge in chemistry.
The duration of the programme is 6 semesters which include a preparatory module (English language and chemistry-specific preparatory courses ~ 8 weeks), a six-semester theoretical module (~ 6×15 weeks), a summer practical module (~12 weeks).
The six- semester theoretical training will contain courses in mathematics, physics and informatics, all of them geared to the needs of the more demanding Physical chemistry, Industrial chemistry, Analytical chemistry and Computational/ theoretical chemistry courses of the second semester, while the first semester also contains general, inorganic, organic and biological chemistry courses.
The summer practical courses will embrace the teaching of the most important practical skills needed for the above-mentioned core subjects.
