Description of the programme: The aim of the programme is to train experts with a comprehensive knowledge of theoretical and practical issues of German studies and general topics of humanities and social sciences, enabling them to pursue their profession in a multifaceted, inter- and multidisciplinary way.
The courses provide thorough theoretical and practical knowledge and prepare students for participation in MA programmes in German studies. Graduates of the courses are trained in the following: using spoken and written German at an advanced level; proficiency in the German language and knowledge of the countries and cultures of the German - speaking world; general methodologies of German studies; creative applications of their knowledge in liaising between cultures; practical applications of their knowledge in the media, cultural life and the tourism industry. In addition to German language training (based on skills such as reading, writing, listening, presentation techniques and grammar), the programme offers a wide variety of courses in literature, linguistics, history and cultural studies, approaching these through a whole range of subject areas (such as media studies, semiotics, theoretical and applied linguistics, general and social history, and gender studies).
