Description of the programme: This programme is designed to familiarise students with the major achievements and dialects of the Italian language and culture through courses firmly grounded in linguistics, literature and cultural history.
They are also trained to acquire a profound knowledge of the culture, history and political system of Italy. Fields of knowledge covered throughout the four-semester courses include the following: the grammatical system of the Italian language, peculiar characteristics of written and oral communication, significant components of Italian and Italian-speaking cultures and literature, current research methods and trends in literature, linguistics and culture that help formulate successful research projects and strategies. A special emphasis is placed on efforts to assist students in developing skills necessary for self-study, life-long learning and self-management.
